Fishing Reports and Forecasts for Lake Norman, October 12, 2009

This report submitted on:

Lots of perch of all sizes midway back in the major creeks hitting sabiki rigs, jigs and small live baits. You'll almost always find bass, stripers and catfish around these large schools of actively feeding perch. You have to experiment to discover which species are present, and at what depth. A mid-size to large white perch fished close to the bottom under and around these perch schools is a great way to catch a lrge flathead.

Early and late in the day, look for topwater feeding action from stripers, bass, and even perch from the mouths of the creeks to midway back. Free lined live baits, bucktails(with ice fly trailers), and topwater lures(Pop R's, Spooks, etc) are good choices to cash in on these feeding frenzies.
