The striper bite is heating up. Water temperatures are in the mid-60F. Morning and afternoon trips are producing good catches of striped bass up to 26 inches long. The stripers are being caught from the mouths to midway back in major creeks, and along the main channel from Rocky Creek up to Marker 21. Live baits free lined, or fished down to 35 feet deep are producing best. Artificial lures such as lead jigging spoons, bucktails, rattle traps, and other crankbaits are effective too. Try fishing a small ice fly trailer behind your lures, and watch for surface feeding fish at dawn & dusk. Both black bass and striped bass are likely to run bait to the surface, especially during low light conditions.
