Although the recent moderate weather temperatures have kept the water in the mid 70F range, our striped bass are well on their way out of the major creeks to take up summer residence in relation to the main river channel. Look for good size schools of the stripers in the mouths of major creeks or along the old river channel. Likely areas include the flood plains near bends in the channels, underwater humps, and the end of long points that reach the channel. These fish will also roam the bank along the 30-40 foot gradient, and venture into relatively small coves when they can push bait into the areas. As always, find the bait, find the predators.
